Vensim Help

The Graph, Strip Graph, Sensitivity Graph and Gantt tools all display graphs over time.  As an alternative to using the Time Axis tab of the Control Panel to change time ranges, you can set a new range for Start and End times for these graphs by Shift-clicking within the graph and dragging the mouse.

Hold down the Shift key and click within the graph to establish one end of the range.  Then, without releasing the mouse, drag left or right to anchor the Start or End time.  Two vertical lines indicate the range you have selected.  (The accompanying example shows a Start time of 2 and an End time of about 3.)  Release the mouse button when you have established the range you want.  Note that you won't see the new Start time and End time used until you generate a new graph by clicking the Graph tool (or another tool that uses Start and End time).  If you want to increase the time range for a graph, you can use the Time Axis Control in the Control Panel.  Alternatively, if an output window is open showing the full (or larger than current) time range, you can Shift-click and drag across the time range desired (including the full range if you want to reset the time axis).

If you release the mouse button to the left of the graph (but still inside the window), Start time will be set at the lowest value on the graph.  If you release to the right of the graph, End time will be set to the highest value on the graph.

The currently selected Time Base does not influence the selection of a time range from inside a graph.  All computations on Start and End time are actually carried out using Time, then converted to the currently selected Time Base as necessary.
