Compiling models will also work with the Vensim DLL (from the Model Reader installation or from a Vensm DSS installation). Again Vensim will check for mdlname_sim.dll (_asim.dll) and use it. For the double precision version the name should be mdlname_simdp.dll (_asimdp.dll). If you rename the model file you will need to rename the .dll as well to keep it matching.
