SD Mailing List Rules and Protocol

The system-dynamics mailing list is meant to increase the ability of people working in system dynamics to communicate and get information.  It is graciously hosted by the University at Albany and maintained and moderated by me - Bob Eberlein.

The list is for information exchange related to system dynamics, including practical, theoretical and technical issues.  Anything that does not, in Bob Eberlein's judgment, appear to be directly related to system dynamics and of interest to a large fraction of list subscribers is not posted.

All messages should be sent as plain text (not HTML and without attachments).  And all messages should be signed at the bottom with the senders name and email address. Quotes, slogans and other things appearing on the bottom of messages are normally removed.  Replies should not include the message they are sent in response to, except for short quotations.  Inflammatory text will be deleted.

The messages are reviewed by me daily, edited if necessary to conform to the above standards, and propogated to the list.  Normally this happens in the morning
east-coast US time.

Job announcements and press release materials from commercial organizations are posted as long as they are relevant to system dynamics.  Press releases should be
kept very terse and material may be removed to make that so.

Advertising is not allowed.  I do not allow postings of people who are looking for jobs.  Personal replies and correspondence are not allowed.

If anything is posted to the list that is not appropriate it I simply delete it. If you reply to the list with a personal note no one but me will ever see it - so be careful about using the Reply button.  If you post something to the list and don't see it after a day or two you should send me a message (bob@vensim.com) and ask what happened (some messages simply get lost).
