Synthesim + Sensitivity analysis

Scroll Prev Top Next More

As of Version 6.5, you can run sensitivity simulations in Synthesim. This lets you see, interactively, how parameter changes affect distributions of outcomes, not just best guesses. This turns out to be practical for surprisingly large models.

When Synthesim starts up, if there is a sensitivity control file and savelist in the simulation setup, it will attempt to load these control files. If successful, a "Sens On" button will appear in the toolbar, next to the Reset buttons for constants. Activating that button will turn on sensitivity for each Synthesim execution.

If no valid setup exists, Synthesim will launch as usual, without the sensitivity option.

During an active slider move, ordinary single simulations will be performed. A sensitivity ensemble will only be run when you release the slider control. (This is like the Suppress Synthesim during slider moves option.)

To take advantage of this feature, you'll want to include a sketch in your model that features I/O Objects with sensitivity bar charts or range graphs, as below. Also, be sure that your active sensitivity dataset is loaded in first position, so that it's behavior appears on range graphs.
