The Ventana Application Environment
This guide explains how to use the Vensim demonstration. Vensim is a modeling environment in which you can build and simulate dynamic models. Vensim modeling is frequently used in business, science, and education. Systems that are modeled include company operations (e.g., inventory control, sales dynamics etc.), ecological communities, social organizations, and even worldwide environmental systems.
Section 1 provides information on setting up and using the demo. Section 2 — Vensim Applications - Sample Models — provides hands-on instructions for exploring models within a microworld. Section 3 — The Vensim Development Environment — briefly describes some features of Vensim, and how to use them. Sections 4 and 5 provide hands-on exercises. Feel free to do anything you like within the Demo. You cannot modify, save, or destroy anything permanently. After you exit, the Demo will reopen in its original form.
